ABC 20-20: Man finds out that he is not the true son of his parents, whose baby was stolen from a Chicago hospital in 1964

ABC 20-20 last night aired a half-century mystery of a man trying to learn who he is.  That is Paul Fronczak, who would find out that he was not his parents’ biological child, as the result of a kidnapping of a baby in 1964 from a hospital in Chicago.  He was brought home and his parents believed he was their real child for a long time.

The ABC link for the main story is here

The episode was called “Stolen at Birth: Who Is Paul Fronczak?”

The most interesting part of the story may be the way forensic artists, at the Center for Missing and Exploited Children in Alexandria, VA, can predict what any person will look like as he or she ages.  Imagine a “perfect” 21 year old.  He will look aged and different by 30 (slightly), more so by 40, and substantially by 50.  Fronczak is now almost 50.  ABC also provided more artists to produce an age progress panel.

DNA tests show that he is not the real child.  Paul is trying to find the real child, over the objections of his parents.

I remember that time, shortly after LBJ had become president after the Kennedy assassination.  I was not a great era.
